What Does this MRI Test Result Mean?

I am a 22 female. I have just received the results of an MRI scan. Results:

Grade 1 LCL

Grade 2 MCL

Partial tear/contusion at the femoral insertion of the ACL

Full thickness tear involving the lateral patellar cartilage extending to the cortical margin

Full thickness patellar cartilage tear at the junction of the medial and lateral platellar cartilage

Bone marrow contusion is noted in relation to the platella

I am not sure what a bone marrow contusion is or where the platella cartilage is damaged. How long is the healing process for this injury?

Welcome to health care magic.

ACL IThe most common cause is an excessive strain applied to the stabilizing ligament on the lateral aspect of the knee during sports or as the result of a fall.

An MCL II injury is a sprain or tear to the medial collateral ligament. You may need to wear hinged knee brace.

Partial tear at femoral insertion of ACL, Complete or full thickness tear with lateral patellar cartilage extending to cortical margin.

Bone marrow signal intensity changes noted with signal intensity changes.

The injury / tear are seen with signal intensity changes or discontinuity of the signal, hopo-intense area.

Hope it helps you.
Thank you
Dr Ganesh.
